This series began as a response to the “dick pic.” I read an article about why men send dick pics, and while the reasons varied on an individual level there was commonality in the responses. Men want to be seen as sexual objects/worthy of sexualization, and don't quite know how to do that. I was inspired to take a dick pic that I had been sent and reduce it to just the sexual organ, rendering the subject as an object through art. By doing so I sexualized the subject and made him an object of desire, fulfilling his initial goal. The other element to this series is that these pieces, originally a manifestation of the male gaze, become about the female gaze towards men. It takes something created by patriarchal sexual coding and subverts it in order to empower the sexuality of people attracted to the male body.
