Consent and Boundaries: Workshops and Staff Trainings
Not Your First Rodeo: A consent workshop for adults
Consent is a hot topic issue - and it should be. But if you were raised in a time where consent was not highlighted, how do you begin to shift your thoughts on consent from harmful to hopeful? This isn’t your first rodeo, but there is always space to learn because we know you’re trying, and we’re here to guide you. In this 3 hour consent training workshop, I focus on going beyond what you learned in school because most of the time it’s unrelatable or realistic. We’ll talk nuances, sexual assault, and different consent models. We’ll also talk about how to make consent sexy and not robotic or awkward. You’ll learn about sexual assaults, legalities of consent scenarios, and common misconceptions, dive into the differences between verbal and nonverbal consent, how you’ve been influenced through media, and how to include consent as a fun and desirable way to communicate.
Consent & Parenting
Update your knowledge on the current best practices around consent, and how to teach healthy boundaries to your children. Topics will include theoretical consent models, practical and reasonable applications of consent, and how you can teach consent and body safety to your children from Pre-K to high school graduation and beyond.
Consent Trainings for Youth Serving Organizations
To build healthy boundaries at all levels of your organization, start by teaching your leadership to think like consent educators.
Share with Rae provides educational workshops on consent, boundaries, and sexual abuse prevention for camp staff, student organizations, and other youth serving adults. Empower your group to navigate boundaries with confidence through frank, honest workshops.
Current consent education focuses on how not to harm others. Share with Rae focuses on self advocacy and positive messaging.
Camps and university student groups are uniquely positioned to offer training at a critical time in a young adult’s life that will prepare your participants for success in the wider world. All the workshops provide comprehensive consent education, incorporating healthy boundaries and bystander awareness from a lens of personal empowerment and community responsibility. The trainings teach you and your organization to create safer spaces, and to respond personally and professionally to consent and boundary violations.
Each workshop is tailored to the individual needs and values of your organization, and combines presentations with activities and scenarios specific to your group.
Consent Workshops for Camps
If you want your camp counsellors and staff to have healthy boundaries with campers and notice camper-on-camper abuse, your staff must also have great boundaries with each other. Child harm reduction and sexual abuse prevention isn’t enough.
All camp workshops are interactive, frank, and direct with what is expected from staff in their role at camp, and how they can directly impact the camp experience for others. Workshops begin with teaching about healthy boundaries and consent, so they can better model the behaviour for their campers. Workshops will connect the dots between their behaviour, what campers see, and how they need to be consistent in their consent and boundary practices. Workshops can be adapted for overnight camps, as well as day camps.
Consent Training for Colleges and Universities
University students are tired of catchy slogans (consent is sexy!), click through modules on harassment, and cutesy videos to explain concepts they already know. They want to learn practical relational skills that go beyond the surface, and to be better equipped to navigate real-world situations with confidence.
For many, college and university is not only when consent training and workshops become more available, it’s also when they become more relevant. When they’re not in class or studying, students want to have fun, make friends, and have good on campus experiences.
Share with Rae post-secondary workshops are designed to be candid and interactive, facilitating an environment where people feel safe to be honest and ask questions. Having a sexual health educator teach consent means you will bring a nuanced and compelling workshop to your group.
